You do need to be wary of these machine translation software programs for official use though. Translation software is quick and easy, but they frequently miss the meaning or nuance behind both English words and Bosnian words. This works if you only need translation of something you are curious about, but officially translated text requires someone that can translate English as well as translate Bosnian in an official capacity.
We provide certified English to Bosnian, as well as Bosnian to English translation services for a variety of official purposes. We offer Bosnian legal translation, Bosnian technical translation, Bosnian medical translation, as well as any documents you may need.
The Bosnian language is spoken primarily in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Approximately 2.2 million people speak Bosnian, a South Slavic language. When Yugoslavia split in the 1990s, Bosnia began to be a distinct language and became one of the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1994. Along with Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian also became the official languages of Bosnia. Bosnian, however, is quite similar to the other languages it shares official status with. It is also the official language of Montenegro and Kosovo. It is also spoken in Albanian, Turkey, the USA and many countries in Western Europe.
Bosnian has both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. It has been primarily written in the Cyrillic alphabet. Briefly, during the era of the Ottoman reign, Bosnian was written in Arabic. The first Bosnian dictionary, which was Bosnian-Turkish, was written by Muhamed Hevaji Uskufi in 1631.
The Slavic languages, which Bosnian falls under, was developed as a written language in the 800s. This was mainly initiated in order to help drive more people to convert to Christianity. The missionaries who set out for this task developed the alphabet and translated the text into Bosnian. Some of the most famous people who set out to this feat were brothers, Cyril and Methodius. The brothers developed the Glagolithic alphabet in order to develop a script for Slavic languages. Eventually, Cyrillic became the alphabet of Slavic languages, having mainly Greek letters but some Glagolithic letters as well. Another form of script was Bosancica, which was used to write Bosnian from the Middle Ages until the 19th century. It is regarded to have been used primarily by the more educated women from noble homes. The oldest document with the Bosnian Cyrillic script is the Human Tablet, which is on display at the museum of the Franciscan Monastery, founded in 1884. Today, Bosnian is written using the Roman alphabet.
