The Mixtec Language

Mixtec is one of the eight variants of the Oto-Manguean family spoken by the Mixtecos or Mixtec phonetically spelled "mix-chee" as it's called in English. The Mixtec (La Mixteca) are indigenous to the Central Southern Mexico states of Oaxaca, Puebla, and Guerrero. Subtler variations of Mixtec can be heard across Sinaloa to Yucatán.

Mixtec's origin can be traced back to 1500 B.C. It's deep culture is why they and other native tribes formed festivities such as Día de los Muertos (Day Of The Dead).

Mixtec draws its name from “Tu’un Savi” (Tongue/Language of the Rain.

Our Mixtec Translators Are Native Speakers

The tone of a word can change its meaning entirely, depending on how it sounds out loud to you.  There are different accents for each community that speak this tonal dialect (for example Tlachiquilla), which makes communication between them difficult sometimes because not everyone understands all those extra syllables coming from their mouth.

They are also spread pretty far apart so when someone says “mixtecatle' they might sound completely different than an indigenous speaker would say "mixtel" due-to geographic dispersion within these communities themselves making speech patterns vary greatly.

"Slow slow" is a Mixtec saying that can take on different meanings. It's used to emphasize or make an action seem slower in comparison with other words when repeated slowly, like "very." Understanding these nuances is what separates us from other translation services. If you need a document translated at a normal rate or in a rush, our team takes pride in efficient accurate translation.
